Ujian Tsunami

Beratus-ratus penduduk maut, hilang dalam bencana alam terbaru Indonesia

JAKARTA: Ombak tsunami meragut nyawa sekurang-kurangnya 113 orang, manakala 502 orang yang lain dilaporkan hilang selepas melanda Kepulauan Mentawai, Sumatera Barat, semalam, berikutan gempa bumi yang kuat meratakan sejumlah kampung di tepi pantai.

Usaha mencari masih diteruskan di kawasan terjejas teruk iaitu di Pulau Pagai Selatan, Pulau Sipora dan mukim Sipora Selatan.

Kebanyakan bangunan dan kediaman di kampung Betu Monga musnah, kata pegawai di pejabat wilayah Jabatan Perikanan, Hardimansyah.

“Daripada 200 orang penduduk kampung hanya 40 saja ditemui. Seramai 160 yang lain dilaporkan hilang, termasuk wanita dan kanak-kanak,” katanya. Semuanya ini berkaitan dengan ombak Tsunami yang melanda kepulauan Mentawai. Tsunami itu berlaku akibat gempa bumi bawah laut yang kuat pada Isnin lalu di Kepulauan Mentawai dengan kekuatan 7.7 pada skala Richter. - Kosmo

Lumpur Toksik Merah di Hungary

LUMPUR toksik merah melitupi sebatang jalan di Devecser kelmarin.


AJKA – Bandar Kolontar di Hungary sunyi seperti sebuah bandar hantu selepas penduduknya dipindahkan semalam berikutan kebimbangan sebuah takungan yang menyimpan bahan buangan toksik berhampiran lokasi tersebut pecah untuk kali kedua.

Sekurang-kurangnya tujuh orang maut manakala lebih 120 yang lain cedera apabila dinding takungan sebuah loji aluminium pecah pada Isnin lepas.

Kejadian menyebabkan sejumlah 700,000 kubik meter lumpur toksik merah mengalir deras dan membanjiri beberapa buah bandar di barat Hungary.

Jurucakap perkhidmatan pengurusan bencana, Tibor Dobson berkata, pakar-pakar kini bimbang takungan berkenaan bocor sekali lagi.


Sebagai langkah berjaga-jaga, katanya, lebih 800 penduduk Kolontar dipindahkan dengan menaiki beberapa buah bas menjelang subuh semalam.

Menurutnya, selain Kolontar, sejumlah 5,300 penduduk bandar Devecser yang terletak berdekatan, turut diarah bersiap sedia untuk berpindah. – AP Kosmo

Gunung Berapi Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland meletus lagi

Bismillahirrahmanirrahim.

Salam Semua.

Debu daripada letusan gunung berapi Eyjafjallajökull, Iceland telah mencapai ketinggian sehingga 25,000 kaki pada minggu ini. Kejadian letusan ini mungkin menyebabkan sebahagian ruang udara British bakal ditutup lagi utk penerbangan.


Angin bertiup dari Utara Barat bererti ada risiko abu dari letusan gunung berapi Iceland, yang bertiup ke dalam wilayah Inggeris. Arah angin dijangka akan berubah pada pertengahan minggu depan dan akan bertiup dari Barat Daya, membawa keluar abu dari wilayah Inggeris.
